The Holy Spirit descends upon Mary and the Apostles. The virtue of zeal is associated with this mystery.
- Jesus said to the disciples, "I will ask the Father and he will give you another Paraclete to be with you always." (John 14:16)
- "The Paraclete, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will instruct you
in everything, and remind you of all that I told you." (John 14:26)
- "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes down on you; then you are to be my
witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, yes,
even to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8)
- When the day of Pentecost came it found them gathered in one place. (Acts 2:1)
- Suddenly from up in the sky there came a noise like a strong, driving wind which was heard all through
the house where they were seated. (Acts 2:2)
- Tongues as of fire appeared, which parted and came to rest on each of them. (Acts 2:3)
- All were filled with the Holy Spirit. They began to express themselves in foreign tongues and make
bold proclamation as the Spirit prompted them. (Acts 2:4)
- Staying in Jerusalem at the time were devout men of every nation. These heard the
sound, and assembled in a large crowd. They were much confused because each heard the
disciples speaking his own language. (Acts 2:56)
- Peter stood up with the eleven, raised his voice, and addressed them. "You must reform
and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, that your sins may be
forgiven; then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." (Acts 2:14, 38)
- Those who accepted his message were baptized; some three thousand were added that day. (Acts 2:41)
