Jesus rises glorious and immortal, three days after His death. The virtue of faith is associated with this mystery.
- After the Sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene came with
the other Mary to inspect the tomb. (Matthew 28:1)
- Suddenly, there was a mighty earthquake as the angel of the Lord descended from heaven. He came to the stone, rolled it back, and sat on it. (Matthew 28:2)
- Then the angel spoke, addressing the women, "Do not be frightened. I know you are looking for Jesus the crucified,
but he is not here. He has been raised, exactly as he promised. Come and see the place where he was laid." (Matthew 28:57)
- [The women] hurried away from the tomb half-overjoyed, half fearful, and ran to carry the good news to his disciples. (Matthew 28:8)
- Suddenly, without warning, Jesus stood before them and said, "Peace!" (Matthew 28:9)
- The women came up and embraced his feet and did him homage. At this Jesus said to
them, "Do not be afraid! Go and carry the news to my brothers." (Matthew 28:10)
- When [the disciples] heard that [Jesus] was alive, they refused to believe it. (Mark 16:11)
- Later on, as two of them were walking along on their way to the country, [Jesus] was revealed to
them completely changed in appearance. These men retraced their steps and announced the
good news to the others; but the others put no more faith in them than in Mary Magdalene.
(Mark 16:1217)
- The eleven disciples made their way to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had summoned
them. At the sight of him, those who had entertained doubts fell down in homage.
(Matthew 28:17)
- "Blest are they who have not seen and have believed." (John 20:29)
