Twilight Dedication by Bishop Ricken, September 29, 2006 |
Over the past two decades, Ten Commandments monuments have been the subject of multiple lawsuits from activist groups bent on removing God's laws of moral
conduct from public display. In response to this activism, Project Moses
was founded to help make God's Ten Commandments more widely known, more deeply understood, more ardently revered, and more faithfully followed. The
overall goal of the Project Moses group is to set up 7,000 monuments at churches, synagogues, and religious schools–places where activist groups will
be unable to effectively call for their removal.
The Knights of Council 4031 spearheaded the effort to erect a Ten Commandments monument at St. Anthony's Church in Cody. Many people, groups, and
various businesses donated money and goods to the project. Our Knights labored long hours in the hot sun to complete the construction and landscaping. The
monument, garden, and "Moses Rock" fountain are beautiful indeed, and they are accomplishing the goal we hoped for: that this beautiful place would attract
people to pause and contemplate the Law of God and the Beatitudes, our guides to human happiness and holiness. |
